Over the years, Truimph's philosophy on engine configuration has remained loyal to the twin and triple approach. On the more recent models launched by the British firm, the three cylinder formula has proven its success on the best seller Speed Triple, in the reliable Tiger 1050, with the unexplainable underrated Sprint ST, on the award winning Daytona 675 and as the trend shows, on the much sought-after, not-enough-supplied Street Triple. Now that RPM Cylce proudly presents and offers to the DFW market two more brands under it's roof Aprilia and Moto Guzzi- the twin vs. triple battle is to continue. These legendary brands, now under the Piaggio corporate umbrella, are destined to succeed in the U.S market. Proof of this is the aggressive launch of a myriad of models that these brands have now to offer (more on this in a minute), which are all represented by twin piston engines in a variety of configurations. Moto Guzzi, with it's distinctive 90 degree V twin, dresses the legendary California Vintage and the techno cruiser Griso in a 1100 cc displacement. Receiving a hefty 1200 cc upgrade, is the refined Norge 1200 grand touring and the new Sport Breva, a remarkable addition for 2008. When less is more, the 750 cc options remain available in the entry level cruiser Nevada and in the nimble Breva 750. Aprilia, on it's own, has not fiddled with success and maintains also a V twin platform which has put the Tuono and RSV 1000 cc at the very top of the super bike podium. New for 2008 and packed with technological features and great looks, is the new Shiver 750. This bike has already caused considerable stir and more is assured to come with the torquey, fly-by-wire engine that may find its way in other models to be produced in the Cuomo (Italy) factory. Last but not least, are the competition proven, compact and efficient 450 and 550 cc V twin RXV's (enduro) and SXV's (motard) models. So here we have it, two vs. three, twin vs. triple. To us at RPM Cycle, by adding two (Aprilia and Moto Guzzi) to one (Triumph), three seems to be the winning number.
